For this, I’ve referenced Rackspace’s Email and Hosted Exchange settings and Gmail’s Check emails from other accounts. While each is complete, I hope this simplifies the setup process between the two. When we are done, your ViaWebs (aka Rackspace) email will be delivered to your Gmail Inbox and labeled. Please have your email address and password available, you will need them.
Navigating Gmail
In the upper-right corner of your Gmail, click on the gear icon and then click on See all setting.
Select the Accounts and Import tab and then Add a mail account.
Add A Mail Account – Receive Email
Enter your email, password, and secure.emailsrvr.com as the POP Server. Change the Port to 995 and check Always use a secure connection. If you wish to label the emails for this account, check the box for Label Incoming message.
You are now able to receive email from the entered email address. You can select No at this point to exit the setup but you would not be able to send email from that address. It’s recommended to select Yes and complete the setup now as it’s only a few extra steps.
Add A Mail Account – Send Email
Enter a “From” name. This can be you, your Company, or anything you choose. Check the to Treat as an alias. This is ideal if you own multiple email addresses and want messages sent to any address to arrive in the same Gmail inbox but when you send a message, choose which address to send from. Recipients see that the message came from whichever address you choose.
Enter secure.emailsrvr.com as the SMTP Server, your Username (email address), and Password. Make sure the Port is 465 and Secured connection using SSL is selected.
Gmail required verification that you can receive email to that address before it will allow you to send on behalf of that address. Leave this window open just in case you need to resend. Open a new tab with your Gmail Inbox or through you free ViaWebs Webmail here: https://cloudways.mymailsrvr.com
Click the provided link to confirm.
And once more to confirm the confirm 🙂
That’s it! Your added email address will now be delivered to your Gmail Inbox and labeled for easy identification.
